Dracula: Ballet with a Bite

Dracula: Ballet with a Bite is a Date Night I Look Forward to EVERY Year

Columbia City Ballet’s Dracula: Ballet with a Bite is a Halloween tradition in Columbia and makes a fabulous date night destination!

The “Bite” to this ballet doesn’t just come from Count Dracula but from the show itself. It’s an edgy, even (tastefully) sexy, dark ballet performance bringing the classic horror story to life. “Based on the novel by Bram Stoker, we see Count Dracula continue his seductive reign of terror with his Brides of Darkness in Transylvania.” (CCB) It’s not what most people traditionally think of when they hear the word “ballet” if they’ve never been to one. William Starrett, Executive and Artistic Director of Columbia City Ballet, has created a haunting and eerie world that has drawn in audience members for 22 years and is a “must see” favorite each season. Starrett has also included new music, along with new sets and choreography in act one. This spinechilling performance is back for their 22nd annual performance, Dracula: Ballet with a Bite, with shows Friday, October 27th and Saturday, October 28th at 7pm.

The annual costume contest will be held during the Saturday performance, with many popular prizes including a $100 cash prize.

Take Your Date Night to the Next Glamorous Level with a Masked Gala

Columbia City Ballet will also be hosting its second annual Gala With A Bite: Dracula’s Masquerade Affair following Friday evening’s performance. Beginning at 9pm, the gala will be held at City Market Place, located at 705B Gervais St in the Vista. Enjoy an evening filled with music and entertainment, a raffle, silent auction and heavy hors d’oeuvers catered by Southern Way. Cocktail attire is suggested, with costumes and masks strongly encouraged. Complimentary valet parking will be offered. Proceeds from the gala will benefit Columbia City Ballet’s Educational Outreach program and the preservation of their performance sets and costumes.

Tickets to the gala are sold separately from performance tickets. Single tickets are $85 each and couples tickets are $150 for the pair. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.columbiacityballet.com
