Summer Safety Days

From Lexington Police Department:

Chief Terrence Green is excited to announce that the second annual “Summer Safety Days” events begin next week at Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt located at 5580 Sunset Blvd. in Lexington, South Carolina.

With the wellbeing of children in motion in mind, the “Summer Safety Days” events focus on child safety whether they are riding in a vehicle or on a bicycle with free child passenger seat checks and free bike helmets along with a bicycle rodeo course to teach young riders the rules
of the road.
The Lexington Police Department has been able to expand the “Summer Safety Days” from two events last year to four events this year through the continued support of Kohls Buckle Buddies providing Child Passenger Seat Technicians and a partnership with Hawley-Lambert Cycling who has provided a generous donation of several hundred child bicycle helmets and is committed to educating the Town of Lexington community on bicycle safety and awareness.
All events are free for the community to attend with two events focused on child passenger seat checks by certified CPS Technicians and then also two bike rodeo course events where each participant will receive a free bicycle helmet.
The schedule of the “Summer Safety Days” event is as follows:
JUNE 6, 2017 1:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. CHILD CAR SEAT CHECK
JUNE 8, 2017 1:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. BIKE RODEO/HELMET GIVEAWAY
JUNE 13, 2017 1:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. BIKE RODEO/HELMET GIVEAWAY
JUNE 15, 2017 1:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. CHILD CAR SEAT CHECK
As an incentive, Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt will be giving out coupons for five ounces of frozen yogurt free to those who have their child’s car seat checked and a coupon for a $1.00 off frozen yogurt for those who have a bike helmet fit and complete the bicycle rodeo course.
Chief Terrence Green said, “Summer time for our children is typically thought of as carefree but safety still needs to be a factor to ensure that they are safe while in a vehicle, have a properly fit helmet when riding a bike, and that they understand the rules of the road. The continued support of Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt along with partnerships with Kohls Buckle Buddies and Hawley-Lambert working with our officers to provide opportunities like this for the Town of Lexington community is greatly appreciated.”
