Are you making one last summer trip Labor Day weekend? Already planning your fall trips? Nicole Crook with Off to Neverland Travel sent over some great tips for traveling with little kids and keeping your sanity.

10. Take your time

Take your time and try not to rush. Everyone feels the stress of rushed parents. Give yourself plenty of time to let your kids be kids.

9. Plan ahead

From booking the resort, to dining plans, to your packing list…create a checklist. This will also help to keep you from forgetting the necessities and from over packing!

8. Distraction bag

Let them help add their favorite items to keep them entertained. Remember to make sure it’s not too heavy for them to carry. Include snacks, comfort items, and favorite toys/books/games/etc

7. Capture the memories

A kid friendly camera is a great way to get their perspective of the vacation! Also, make sure you have plenty of space on your phone or camera before you leave. There is nothing worse then running out of memory storage at the beginning of your vacation!

6. Family medicine kit

Everything is more expensive away from home! Pack a medicine bag to go! Include: antiseptic wipes, sterile strips, fever reducer, any prescriptions, sanitizer, sunscreen, nail clippers, etc

5. Stroller rentals vs packing one

Do you research. It may be easier to just pack your own! A lot of times the rentals are a bulky, hard plastic that don’t make for pleasant nap times!

4. Be flexible

A lot of families let schedules slide while on vacation. This can be tricky so plan for a wait at peak meal hours.

3. Plan for breaks

When you stop for gas, allow the kids to get out and stretch, use the bathroom, grab a snack, etc. You can always stop at a fast food restaurant that has a play yard to let them loose on for a few minutes!

2. Potty Training

Pack a travel potty for those emergencies! (Lexington Mommy tip to add in – Line the travel potty or potty chair with a grocery bag and for extra “protection”, place a maxi pad in the bottom. Makes clean up super easy.)

1. Nightlight/Sound machine

If your children are accustomed to these at home, make sure you pack them! Most hotel rooms are dark and quiet. Help them sleep comfortably when they are away!
